being a native of Northern Ireland, coming to the United States in 1816.

With an education acquired at the common schools and under the eye of
his father, we find him after nineteen years of age teaching,

Greenville and Jamestown. Determining to adopt the medical profession he
commenced his studies with Dr. Wm. Gibson, of Jamestown, Pennsylvania.
In preparing himself for the profession he became a student of the
Eclectic Medical College of Cincinnati, and graduated in 1853. Locating
at Mosiertown, Cussewago township, he has continued practicing there,
with the exception of, perhaps, a year's absence. The Doctor has served
frequently as School Director in Mosiertown, but has never sought any
public office, devoting himself strictly to his profession. He Is a
member of the Eclectic Medical Association.
